Overview
Progressive training: Fulfillment of judges¡¯ right and duty of training
- A. Judges of similar working periods undergo mandatory refresher training every five years at the Judicial Research and Training Institute to renew their sense of duty and professional awareness as the judiciary in an open, supportive environment.

1) Each training phase comes with set learning objectives.
- A) Training Phase ¥° (Year 5 - 6): Role and Balance
- B) Training Phase ¥±(Year 10 - 11): Career and Commitment
- C) Training Phase ¥² (Year 15 - 16): Responsibility and Communication
- D) Training Phase ¥³ (Year 20 - 21): Philosophy and Understanding
- E) Training Phase ¥´ (Year 25 - 26): Wisdom and Community
- F) Training Phase VI (Year 30 - 31): Awareness and Dignity
- 2) Programs in line with the learning objectives of each training phase are provided.
- 3) Programs cover diverse topics in depth.
- 4) Judges understand the value of mandatory progressive training in increased awareness of social responsibility.
Practical Training Programs: Focusing on Performing Court Duties
- A. This program is aimed to provide education for judges undertaking new tasks after regular duty/task rotation. It is designed to deliver intense training for judges during a short period of time, which enables the judges to become familiar with their new responsibilities and gain knowledge and expertise in the new task. Programs are typically held in late February through April.

B. Objectives
- 1) Offer programs soon after the regular rotation of judge duties and scheduled at a time most convenient for the judges to participate
- 2) To offer programs using both in-person and virtual formats
- 3) To hold a more diverse range of programs online
- 4) To provide more blended learning and hybrid training opportunities using digital content
Specialization Training Programs: Enhancing Judicial Skills

A. This program is designed to enhance the expertise of judges. Judges are able to build their intellectual knowledge and gain a better understanding of the global judicial practice.
- - Training programs are provided in the form of intensive programs, research programs, international courses, and seminars.

B. Objectives

1) To offer intensive programs to allow judges to acquire a specialization.
- - An advanced, user-friendly learning content enables judges to specialize in a particular area and is able to contribute to judicial efficiency

2) To increase sharing and production of materials through judges¡¯ research.
- - Publish handbooks such as the Manual for Trial Practice proceeds
- - Provide support for existing and new long-term research projects
- - Utilize research findings of the Judicial Policy Research Institute as lecture materials

3) To offer judges the opportunity to participate in programs of foreign judicial training institutes as part of the international exchange training programs.
- - Share insights learned from attending the exchange programs and study foreign trial systems and their cases in-depth and present their findings in the program
- 4) To hold seminars to allow judges to research and discuss their findings with other experts.
Knowledge and Wellness Training: Support judges¡¯ to seek and gain self-improvement and internal reflection
- A. This program allows judges to have self-awareness and a deeper sense of all aspects of life.

- 1) To provide more intensive and effective knowledge/reflection programs by coordinating program details.

2) To hold programs covering diverse topics
- - Judges are educated in law-related studies
- - Judges have the opportunity to design their own training programs
- - Diverse programs are offered through stronger cooperation with other institutions
E-Learning Center
- A. Judicial educational videos and other online contents are available for judges through the E-Learning Center. The Center allows judges to participate in the in-person or online judicial training programs and provides convenient access to a wider range of training materials.

1) To make a more diverse range of online training content available
- - Include lectures by the authors of the Handbook for Court Procedures and the Manual for Trial Practice
- - Include new research findings and useful and valuable information will be adopted and digitalized as separate content
- 2) To convert certain practical judicial training contents to an online format
- 3) To increase the E-Learning Center availability and judges¡¯ access
- - Mobile access and access from external devices are made available.
- 4) To develop a new Judicial Training Management System
