The Judicial Research and Training Institute (JRTI) was established on January 1, 1971 by the Supreme Court of Korea to further the education of those who have passed the Korean Bar Examination before entering the legal profession.

Since then, JRTI has strived to instill the necessary basic skills for all areas of legal practice, regardless of individual preferences to become a judge, prosecutor or lawyer. JRTI is the only educational institution for the bench and the bar in Korea, producing over its 30 years, a total of 10,468 legal professionals. At present, 99% of judges and 100% of prosecutors and 83% of lawyers are graduates of JRTI.

The goals of JRTI in the 21st century are as follows:
   - The training of legal professionals to achieve international standards of quality.
   - The training of lawyers to serve the community.
   - The training of leaders with democratic principles and visions for the 21st century.

With a history and tradition of more than 30 years, JRTI will adapt to upcoming social changes. We will use our strong initiatives and proper discretion to exert our best efforts to our top priorities, such as improving the quality of education and expanding our library. With our combined efforts, we will make JRTI an internationally renowned legal institute for training honourable legal professionals.

It is fair to say that the future of our legal system depends on the success of JRTI to produce qualified legal professionals.
